Counties Manukau Police have arrested and charged the 21 year-old mother of a baby girl found dead in a culvert on Burnside Road, Ardmore on Saturday 2 July.
The woman has been charged with concealing the body of a child.
She appeared in the Manukau District Court today and has been remanded on bail until 11 August.
Detective Inspector Mark Gutry says "Further charges are still possible. We are waiting for a final report from a paediatric pathologist before making this decision."
