Appeal for people who had contact with Mr Ratahi

1 min read

Police investigating the death of Anthony Ratahi in Opunake are keen to hear from anyone who has had contact with him since his release from prison on 6 July.

The investigation team also wants to hear from any retailers who served Mr Ratahi during Friday 16, July, or any other members of the public who had contact with him on that day, who haven't yet been spoken to by Police.

Inspector Pat Handcock said: "As part of the investigation we need to build up a picture of Mr Ratahi, his movements and his demeanour in the lead up to the weekend's hostage situation. We are liaising with family, making contact with known friends and associates and carrying out an area canvass, but want to ensure we don't miss anyone who may have information that will assist the investigation."

Anyone who has any information relevant to this investigation is asked to contact Stratford Police on 06 765 8860.

Media enquiries should be referred to Communications Manager Kim Perks on 027 234 8256.
