Man critical following Otahuhu crash

A man is in a critical condition following a crash at the intersection of Portage Road and Great South Road in Otahuhu at approximately 5:55am this morning.

The man was driving a black Nissan station wagon and was turning left onto Great South Road, from Portage Road, when he lost control of his vehicle and slid, clipping the rear of another station wagon. He continued to spin out of control and was struck by a truck.

The driver of the black Nissan station wagon has been taken to hospital in a critical condition. Police have not yet been able to identify him.

The drivers of both the truck and the other vehicle involved in the crash, both male, escaped injury. There were no passengers in any of the vehicles involved.

The Counties Manukau Serious Crash Investigation Unit is conducting a full investigation into the crash and would like to hear from any witnesses that they have not already spoken with.
