Police training exercises

1 min read

Christchurch Police have conducted a training exercise simulating a hostage rescue this morning. Firearms and distraction devices were involved.

An RNZAF Iroquois helicopter was used to transport police staff to the disused Christchurch Women's Hospital. Officers were lowered from the Iroquois helicopter on to the roof of the building late this morning.

Flyers had been dropped to residents in the immediate area earlier this week to give prior warning to the residents.

The Iroquois will also be assisting with the Search and Rescue exercise at Mt Peel in the weekend.
