Reflecting on the successful completion of policing the All Blacks v Japan match in Hamilton this eveningWaikato Police say the City has added another chapter to its reputation of events capital of the country.

District Operations Manager, Inspector John Kelly, said a capacity crowd of 30484 people enjoyed a match that was incident free.

"There were no arrests at the stadium and in fact arrest numbers across the City have been well down as you would expect with a highly visible policing presence both in Hamilton and across the District's roading network.

"The challenge now is to build on the good results achieved by the public in maintaining a family friendly, festive atmosphere as the crowd empties out of the stadium and heads into town."

Mr Kelly said increased Police numbers would be very noticeable and he urged rugby fans and revellers to maintain their good spirits.

"We're not doing it alone, we have Hamilton City Council City Safe staff out there as well as 30 Maori Wardens who have joined us from across the City, Huntly and Raglan with everyone focused on ensuring a successful evening."
