Man arrested following Dannevirke robbery

A man has been arrested by Police in Dannevirke following a report of an aggravated robbery in the Tararua town.

The incident occurred at approximately 1.30pm when a man went into Dave's Den, a shop on the corner of High Street and Hospital Street which sells model vehicles and artwork.

It is alleged that the man produced a firearm and stole a number of model vehicles valued around $1200 before leaving in a white car. No-one was hurt during the incident.

At approximately 3pm Police stopped a vehicle in Woodville and arrested without incident a 48-year-old Masterton man. Model vehicles have been recovered but a firearm has not yet been found.

The man has been taken to Dannevirke Police Station. Charges are yet to be laid.

Police want to hear from anyone who was in the area of High Street and Hospital Street around 1.30pm this afternoon who witnessed anything that might be relevant to this investigation. Police also want to hear from anyone who saw a white Toyota car parked up or acting suspiciously this afternoon anywhere between Dannevirke and Woodville.
