1 min read

For the second time in a week Dannevirke Police have unearthed an indoor cannabis operation and seized a significant number of plants.

On Friday, 864 plants were discovered in a garage in Otope Road, Dannevirke and one man is currently facing drugs charges.

Today in a second unrelated operation Police executed a search warrant at an address in Adelaide Road, Dannevirke. Two rooms inside the house had been modified to grow cannabis, and 301 plants in varying stages of maturity were found.

A 38-year-old man from Dannevirke has been charged with cultivating cannabis. He has made a brief appearance at Dannevirke Court where he was bailed to reappear at Dannevirke Court on Monday, 7 November.

Detective Sgt Graham Perks said: "Hopefully the message is going out loud and clear that we will not tolerate drugs in our communities and just because your operation is hidden out of sight doesn't mean we won't be knocking on your door."

Anyone with information relating to the production or supply of drugs should contact the Police. Alternatively information can be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
