Whangarei Police make arrests in relation to aggravated robberies

Whangärei Police have arrested two men in relation to a series of aggravated robberies in Whangärei and Auckland.

Early this morning Police executed search warrants at five addresses around the Whangärei District.
As a result of the search warrants two men, aged 24 and 31 years, were arrested and charged with aggravated robbery in relation to a home invasion on Maunu Road on September 29, the robbery of the Onerahi Tavern on October 6, and a home invasion in the North Shore suburb of Pinehill on October 13.

One of the offenders has been charged with the unlawful possession of a firearm.
The two men are also jointly charged with theft and arson of a motor vehicle. Police believe that this vehicle was used in the robbery of the Onerahi Tavern.
The men will be appearing in the Whangärei District Court tomorrow.

Police are still carrying out inquiries in relation to these crimes and are still seeking information on the robberies.
