1 min read

Upper Hutt Police have launched a homicide enquiry after the death of a 21-year-old man in Upper Hutt this morning.

Shortly after 11am, three people were at a residential address in McParland Street, Upper Hutt, when two men burst into the house.

Following a brief struggle, the 21-year-old man was stabbed and died later at the scene. Police were called to the scene by ambulance staff.

A full post mortem is yet to take place, but it appears that the victim has two stab wounds.

Police are wanting to hear from anyone who may have seen suspicious behaviour or heard a fight in the McParland Street area this morning or from anyone who may have information about the incident.

"Residents in the area, or anyone passing through that area may have seen people running from the address or a car traveling away at speed," says Acting Area Commander Inspector Mike Hill.

Police are still looking for the weapon used to inflict the wounds.

The man's name cannot be released until family have been contacted.

Police are currently examining the scene of the homicide and talking with the other two people who were at the McParland Street address when the incident happened.
