1 min read

Waitakere CIB plan to release the deceased body of a male security guard into the care of family trustees today. A member of the Sikh community has been appointed to care for the body until its proposed return to India later this week.

Charanpreet Singh Dhaliwal’s body was found at a West Auckland construction site at about 3.00am on Friday 18 November 2011. The site is located nearby the Lincoln Road – North Western Motorway over bridge.

“This is now a homicide investigation. The deceased has died from head injuries as a result of being assaulted. We’re certainly taking the death of this young man seriously,” said Detective Senior Sergeant Stan Brown of the Waitakere CIB.

“The post mortem details are not being released. Security surveillance footage is being widely accessed and reviewed. Industrial locations near the construction site are of interest to us. We are viewing all available footage from this area.”

“Several persons are known to have been in the vicinity prior to or about the time the security guard’s body was discovered. We would like these people to come forward to advance our enquiries. We want to identify these individuals.”

“I urge anyone who has information that will assist Police, to call the Operation Hope investigation team immediately, on 0800 OP HOPE – [0800 674 673] – or alternatively call Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111,” said Detective Senior Sergeant Brown.
