Stab Resistant Body Armour

1 min read

Police say there will be no wastage of Stab Resistant Body Armour despite issues around the correct fitting of vests.

Those vests which were incorrectly measured will be held in stock for issue to future staff.

A revised roll out schedule has been put in place to take into account the measuring issues.

Assistant Commissioner Gavin Jones says it is incorrect to say that the vests in stock cannot be used with police duty belts.

"All the vests in stock are compatible with the police duty belt and all vests will be used over the next few years."

"The cost of the additional vests is being funded via our minor capital budget.

"We now have a better understanding of the accuracy required to produce a personalised garment and we expect better results in future," Mr Jones said.
