Update on Port of Taranaki ship protest

Five police staff have gone on board the Noble Discoverer ship in the Port of Taranaki which was boarded by Greenpeace protestors earlier this morning.

Area Commander for New Plymouth Police, Inspector Blair Telford, said Police had been talking to the protestors:

"Our staff climbed up the drill tower to establish initial contact with the the group and assess what their intentions were. Safety is our paramount consideration at this stage." said Mr Telford.
