Woman's death under investigation

1 min read

Police in Whanganui are investigating the death of a woman which is believed to be drug-related.

Sanchia Wilson (33) who had recently moved to Whanganui from Hamilton, was taken to hospital by ambulance on Wednesday (28 March) after falling unconscious at a house in Whanganui. She was a visitor to the house and there was a small group of people at the address socialising. It was a member of that group who raised the alarm.

Miss Wilson was taken initially to Whanganui Hospital in a critical condition but she was transferred to Wellington Hospital on Saturday (31 March) and she died there yesterday afternoon. A post mortem will be carried out today to establish the cause of her death.

Since Wednesday Police have been making a number of enquiries and as a result they have arrested and charged two men with supplying a Class B drug.

The men, aged 57 and 35 from Whanganui will appear Whanganui District Court this afternoon.

The occupants of the house have assisted police with the investigation.
