Missing man suffers from dementia

1 min read

Search and Rescue are today searching for a 61 year old Rangiora man who suffers from dementia. He was last seen mid afternoon yesterday, Saturday, in the Marshland Road/ QE 2 Drive area.

Search O/C Sergeant Tony Tully asks any who lives or works in that area to please check any out buildings and property.

Lawrence O'Connell is 61 years old, 5'9" tall, with hazel eyes and thinning brown /grey hair. He was last seen wearing a black polar fleece, a green cap, black track pants, a blue shirt and black shoes.

He obtained a lift to town from Rangiora and dropped off in that QE2 Drive/Marshland Road area by people who had seen him on the side of the road and offered him a lift in to town. This was the last reported sighting.

Sergeant Tully says Mr O'Connell won't know who he is or where he is by now and is likely quite cold and weak after spending a night out.

"He has already spent one night out and will be cold and very disorientated by now," he says. 'He may have sought shelter in an outbuilding or in trees/ hedge."

Police would like to hear from any one who may have seen Mr O'Connell yesterday or today to contact them immediately.
