Kapiti police are looking for a man who told an 11-year old girl to get into his car on Monday night.

The incident happened between 6.45pm and 7.00pm on 1 October as the girl was walking on Matatua Road, Raumati Beach.

A vehicle drove past her, turned around and stopped ahead of her. A man got out of the driver's side and blocked her way on the footpath, telling her to get into his car.

The girl got past him and ran off.

The offender is described as being about 40-years old with dark skin. He has a tall, muscular build, low voice, and dark brown eyes. He is bald with a thin dark moustache and black eye brows. He had a scratch on the left side of his face and a tattoo on his upper left arm of a taniwha, tiki or similar.

At the time, he was wearing a green tee-shirt, skinny-style blue jeans with rips in both knees and grey sneakers with red laces.

His vehicle is described as an old-style four-door car. It was dark blue (almost black), with black trim on the sides at the bottom.

Police want to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at the time, may have seen anything suspicious, or have any other information that may help to identify the offender.

Please call Kapiti Station, (04) 296 6800, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
