Police team established to find "Pumpkin's" mum

1 min read

Auckland City Police have convened a team of investigators to try and find the mother of the three year-old girl abandoned at a Melbourne railway station on Saturday morning.

Officer in charge of the team, Detective Senior Sergeant Simon Scott, said Police are concerned for the safety of Anan Liu, believed to be the 27 year-old mother of the little girl dubbed "Pumpkin" but whose full name is Qian Xun Xue.

"We have been to the Mt Roskill address that Anan Liu is last known to have lived at but, as yet, we haven't been able to locate her," Mr Scott said.

"We'd very much like to hear from anyone who knows where Anan - otherwise known as Annie - Liu is and we're obviously concerned that no one has reported her missing.

"At this stage we are viewing her as a missing person and will re-evaluate that as our inquiries progress.

"We are working closely with the Melbourne Police and have been in contact with them this morning to gather and share as much information as possible."

Mr Scott said the ultimate aim was to reunite Qian Xun Xue with family and, to that end, it was vital that anyone with information about Anan Liu contact the Auckland City CIB.
