Operation Patch: Car found

2 min read

Auckland City Police investigating the abduction of three year-old Qian Xun Xue to Melbourne on Thursday the 13th of September have secured her mother's car, found at the Auckland International Airport.

The car, a white Honda Fit with the registration DJZ805, was located at an uncovered carpark at the airport and Police have been aware of it since 9.35pm last evening.

The car has been checked but is yet to undergo a full forensic examination. No sign of Anan Liu, the 27 year-old mother of the little girl dubbed "Pumpkin" by Melbourne Police, has been found in or near the car.

Police have CCTV footage of Nai Yin Xue, the girl's father, arriving at the Henderson Police Station on Thursday, September 13 - with his daughter Qian Xun Xue - at 9.20am. He and his daughter were also captured on CCTV at the Auckland International Airport carpark at 3.53pm on the same day.

Police would like to hear from anyone who saw Mr Xue and/or his partner's car between the hours of 10am and 4pm on September 13.

To date, Auckland City CIB have visited four addresses that Anan is known to have lived in at times over the past 12 months - three in Auckland and one in Wellington.

While Police have recovered some items of interest from an address, there's been nothing to indicate where Anan is.

Detective Senior Sergeant Simon Scott says Police concerns for Anan Liu's safety are real and justified.

"Based on the information we have collated, we're concerned that Anan has not been able to contact us in relation to her daughter," Mr Scott said.

"Police have had contact with Mr Xue and Anan Liu over the past 12 months over family violence incidents."

The Mt Roskill address is the last known address of Qian's mother who was last seen in the morning of Monday, September 10 by a flatmate.

The child - Qian Xun Xue - is a New Zealand citizen. Her mother is a Chinese national who's been in New Zealand since July 2002 and a resident since 2005.

Mr Xue has been a citizen with a New Zealand passport since 2005.

Information should go to the Operation Patch number 0800 272 824.
