Police are concerned for the safety of a missing 39 year-old Levin man.

Stuart Richard Rangihuna has been missing from his home since the early hours of this morning (29 January 2013). His wife noticed him missing around 5am and found a note from him saying he had gone for a walk to the lake (believed to be Lake Horowhenua).

Mr Rangihuna has not returned back home after his walk and his family have not heard from him since.

He stands at about 175 centimetres tall, light complexion, solid build, no distinctive tattoos, and no facial hair. His hair is closely shaven on his head. It is not clear what clothing he was wearing when he left his home, however it is possible that his footwear are white sneakers/running shoes.

Local Police officers and LandSar volunteers have been searching tracks around nearby lakes today, and are in the process of searching around Lake Horowhenua this evening. The search will resume again tomorrow morning.

Anyone who has any information about the current whereabouts of Mr Rangihuna, or who may have seen him, is asked to contact the Levin Police Station as soon as possible on (06) 366 0500.
