Double Fatality At Redvale - Two Deceased Identified

Police have released the names of the drivers who died in a two car crash on Bawden Road, Redvale, prior to noon yesterday. The two deceased have been identified as:

SELLERS/Kyle Jack

DOB 5/11/87 - Aged 19 years

Resident of Manly

Mr Sellers was the driver of Holden Commodore vehicle.

BOOTH/ Lois Marjorie

DOB 16/8/1937 - Aged 70 years.

Resident of Dairy Flat

Mrs Booth was the driver of a Honda Civic vehicle.

Police say the crash happened at about 11.51 am on Sunday 7 October 2007 when a Black Holden Commodore travelling west commenced an overtaking manoeuvre on a downhill stretch of Bawden road. The vehicle then proceeded across yellow no-passing lines, and through a dip in the undulating road incline.

Travelling in the opposite direction was a purple coloured Honda Civic. This vehicle has collided head-on with the Holden. Both drivers died at scene. A 48 year old female passenger who was travelling in the Honda was airlifted to Auckland Hospital by Westpac Rescue Helicopter with serious injuries. Her condition this morning remains stable.

Constable Karl Bevin of the Serious Crash Unit says police are investigating the crash and the female driver of the vehicle that was being overtaken at the time of the incident is assisting Police. She has suffered severe shock.
