Investigation continues into unexplained death

1 min read

Lower Hutt Police and forensic experts are today continuing their scene examination at a Wainuiomata house where a woman died on Friday.

Detective Senior Sergeant Ross Levy, head of Lower Hutt CIB, said the death of the 22-year-old woman, whose name is yet to be released, is unexplained. "It could be some days before we have a clearer understanding of what happened and why she died."

Police were called to a Wellington Road house on Friday night and found the deceased on a bed at the address. A post mortem was completed last night but further medical reports are required to establish the cause of death.

Police are satisfied however that no weapons were involved.

Detective Senior Sergeant Levy said police are still speaking with family members who were at the house on Friday, and others who may have been in contact with the woman in recent days.
