Woman charged following death of 9 year-old Raetihi boy

Ohakune Police have arrested and charged a 42 year-old Raetihi woman with manslaughter in relation to the death of nine year-old Antony Christensen.

Antony was discovered dead on 7 December 2012 at his home in Raetihi. It was established that he died as a result of an overdose of prescription medicines.

Officer in charge of the investigation Detective Senior Sergeant Keith Borrell said: "As a result of the ongoing homicide investigation we have today arrested and charged a 42 year-old woman with manslaughter."

"I would like to thank the Raetihi community for their support and cooperation during this investigation.

"However, we would still like to speak to anyone that may have information in relation to Antony's death. If you do know something please contact the Ohakune Police on (06) 385 0100."

The woman will appear in the Whanganui District Court this afternoon.

As this matter is currently before the court Police cannot comment any further at this stage.
