Deceased in workplace accident named

Police have released the name of the man who died in a workplace accident in Casebrook yesterday.

He was John Terence Hebden, aged 64, of Christchurch.

Mr Hebden was the owner of JT Hebden Building and Construction, in Sturrocks Road, where the accident occurred.

Emergency services were called to the premises just after 1.15pm yesterday (Monday) after reports that a man had suffered a serious abdominal injury as a result of a workplace accident. The accident is reported to have involved machinery being used by the deceased at the premises.

Police and ambulance attended, but Mr Hebden died at the scene.

An investigation into the incident is being conducted by inspectors from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment and by Police.
