An 18-year-old Porirua youth has been arrested and charged with criminal damage after a police car was destroyed in a fire on Guy Fawkes night.

Detective Sergeant Brent Clark, Porirua CIB, said the 18-year-old will appear in the Porirua District Court tomorrow.

"The arrest was made with help from information from the public," Detective Sergeant Clark said.

Police are still looking for three other youths who were seen running away from the Waitangirua Community Policing Centre yard where the patrol car was parked. A passerby alerted police to the fire at 11.47pm on Guy Fawkes Night, 5 November.
