Murder charges laid in burns case

Christchurch Police have formally charged two men with murder in relation to the death of Terrance Martin Smith.

Mr Smith, aged 55, of Christchurch, died on 8 May after receiving severe burns in an incident at a Woolston address on Anzac Day, 25 April.

Two men had previously been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. They remain in custody and will reappear in Court on 24 May.
