Hamilton Police are describing help they received from the public as pivotal in the arrest of a man allegedly responsible for the aggravated robbery of a bus in the city on Wednesday night.

Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Page of Hamilton CIB said an 18-year-old unemployed man was arrested late yesterday afternoon.

"The arrest comes after enquiries made by Community Constables into others matters generated queries from the public," said Mr Page.

"Investigators thank those members of the public who assisted in the investigation and facilitated the early resolution of this matter."

Charged with aggravated robbery and unlawful taking of a motor vehicle (from an unrelated incident), the Melville/Glenview resident will be appearing in the Hamilton District Court today.
