Young woman attacked in Rawhiti Domain

1 min read

A woman in her early twenties was attacked as she walked through the Rawhiti Domain, New Brighton, last Sunday night, 15 June.

The woman was walking through the Domain from Shaw Ave to Bowhill Road between 7- 7.30pm. As she neared Bowhill Road she was pushed into bushes by a male she had seen early in the evening on a bicycle. He indecently assaulted her there but was possibly disturbed by passers-by and ran off.

He is described as in his late 20's, medium to solid build, about 172 cm (5'8") tall.

"There were quite few people around at the time," says Detective Anita Paterson. "A couple had walked past the woman just before she was attacked and may have seen the man."

Anyone who was in the Domain around that time or has any information is asked to contact Detective Anita Paterson, New Brighton Police, phone 353 9111.
