Man to appear in court over alleged hit and run

A 21 year old cool store worker will appear in the Christchurch District Court this morning charged with wounding, relating to the incident in Stevens Street, (near Wilsons Road) early Sunday morning when a man was hit by a vehicle.

Detective Senior Sergeant David Harvey says that a number of people have still to be located and interviewed

"The party was adjacent to a licensed premises, Seventy 7, and a number of people were there and at nearby AMI Stadium," he says. "I anticipate it will take a couple of days to locate and speak to them all."

The vehicle involved is being examined with the assistance of ESR scientists.

The condition of the 29 year old male victim this morning is said to be serious but stable.
