Witnesses sought to petrol drive-off assault

Papanui Police are seeking any witnesses to an incident when a young petrol station attendant was run over after he challenged a petrol drive-off.

Last Friday nigh, 11 July, about 9.20pm at the Mobil Service Station on the Main North Road, Redwood, the 18 year old attendant attempted to stop a petrol drive-off but the car did not stop. He was thrown up over the bonnet then fell to the ground.

Detective Sonya Currie says that he is very lucky he didn't sustain very serious injuries but still has abrasions, bruising and some injuries to his arm.

She is seeking any witnesses to the incident who may have seen or have knowledge of the blue, early model sedan with a black body kit, driven by male Caucasian, about 25- 30 years old, about 175- 180cm tall, (about 6 ft), clean shaven and wearing a black cap. There were three or four passengers in the car.
