A Waikato Police dog narrowly missed being run over when a driver rammed a Police car while trying to escape from the scene of burglary near Rukuhia overnight.
Staff returning from an armed incident in Enderley were called to reports of a break-in about 1.30am and encountered a suspicious car parked by the Rukuhia School.
Letting his dog out of the patrol car, a Police dog handler went to investigate the car when it suddenly reversed at them, narrowly missing the dog and hitting the Police vehicle.
The car then sped off towards Hamilton with the occupants throwing objects, stolen in the burglary of a barn near the school, at pursuing Police vehicles.
Road spikes were used in Melville to slow the vehicle's progress and the three occupants attempted to flee, running towards Waikato Hospital.
Tracked by a Police Dog two of the car's occupants, a 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man were caught while officers were still searching for a 22-year-man this morning.
The pair face a variety of charges relating to the burglary, reckless driving and failing to stop.
Meanwhile a man is in custody in relation to the original incident in Enderley about 10.45pm where Police received reports of a woman being chased down a street and a man allegedly holding a handgun to her head.
Armed Police established a cordon around a Dryden Rd address and commenced a voice appeal resulting in a man coming out and giving himself up.
Arrested in relation to domestic violence charges the man is expected to appear in the Hamilton District Court today.
No firearm was found during a search of the property.
