Aggravated Robbery In Swanson

1 min read

Waitakere CIB is investigating an incident in the West Auckland suburb of Swanson yesterday when a strawberry seller was robbed at gunpoint.

Detective Constable Nicki Robinson says that at 11.00am Sunday 4 January 2009, the 37 year old female victim was selling strawberries at her sales table at the Swanson Reserve.

The victim has been approached by two persons unknown to her. They were a male aged in his forties, and his female companion aged about 20 years.

An unidentified firearm has been clearly visible to the victim. She has been forced to sit in her car that was parked nearby in the reserve. The two armed offenders have then demanded cash, jewellery and her cell phone.

When two customers arrived separately at the scene to purchase some strawberries, the victim got out of her car to attend to them. It's unlikely that either of these customers were aware of the victim's ongoing ordeal.

The victim has then returned to her car. The two offenders quickly left the scene in an unidentified silver coloured vehicle. The victim remains distressed by the incident and is being comforted at her home by family and friends.

Anyone who purchased strawberries from the Swanson Reserve location on Sunday morning is requested to contact Detective Constable Robinson at Henderson Police on 09 839 0630..
