Armed Incident In Riverhead

1 min read

Three men are being interviewed by police after an armed incident in the township of Riverhead early this morning.

Detective Sergeant Phil Cox of the Waitakere CIB says that at 1.00am on Monday 5 January 2009 three men armed with shotguns forced their way into a house in Riverhead and threatened the three occupants at gunpoint.

The offenders demanded cash. They departed the property soon after with a collection of items including cell phones, computer games, digital cameras, jewellery and a small amount of cash. No shots were fired during the incident.

Two of the occupants alerted police and the offenders were later located in Ranui in West Auckland. Members of the Armed Offenders Squad attended at the address.

"Although no arrests have yet been made police have not ruled out the possibility of serious firearms and other charges being laid. Ongoing enquiries via a search warrant are currently in progress," Detective Sergeant Cox said.
