Arrests after pharmacy aggravated robberies

1 min read

Two people have been arrested and are to appear in the Lower Hutt District Court today charged with the aggravated robberies of two pharmacies.

Acting Detective Sergeant Andrew Compton, Wellington CIB, said a 21 year old man and 41 year old woman were arrested in Lower Hutt yesterday afternoon. They were caught by police minutes after the Woburn Pharmacy in Whites Line East was robbed at 4.10pm by a man armed with a knife demanding morphine.

Staff members complied with the demands and the man fled, but not before witness noted the registration details of a waiting vehicle and contacted police who caught the man and woman a short time later.

The two people, both from Christchurch, are charged with the aggravated robbery of the Johnsonville Medical Centre Pharmacy on 3 January and yesterday's robbery at the Woburn Pharmacy.
