Police generally happy with NZI Sevens crowd

1 min read

Wellington Police were generally happy with the behaviour of most of the fans attending the first day of the NZI Sevens at Westpac Stadium.

Nineteen arrests were made at the Stadium today for a range of offences including tresspass, obstruction, fighting, wilful damage and disorder. A further 61 people were evicted from the Stadium and will be unable to use their tickets for Saturday's games.

Inspector Simon Perry, police operations commander at the Stadium, said overall he was happy with the crowd behaviour. "It was a good atmosphere with plenty of noise. People were enjoying themselves and we hope this continues tomorrow."
