1 min read

A collision between a car and a van at a busy Hamilton intersection has left one person injured and the City's Blood Bank building requiring first aid as well.

Police are still working to establish just what caused the crash that involved a van and a Nissan sedan that ended up with the van on its roof in the middle of the Ohaupo Rd/ Kahikatea Dr intersection and the car up a bank smashed into a wall of the Blood Bank.

Initial indications on the cause of the crash that happened about 6.30am are that the car failed to give way as it turned right on to Kahikatea Dr and was struck by the northbound van.

The van ended up on its roof while the driver of the car was trapped and had to extracted by fire-fighters, he was then taken through to the adjacent Waikato Hospital with minor injuries.
