A very honest woman is Papanui's 'good news' start to the week. Sergeant Dave Knowles says that on Saturday morning a woman brought in a large amount of cash she had just found on the road.
It appears she had been walking with her child in a pram down Papanui Road when she found a folder with documents, a child's puzzle and some cash. She hadn't fully opened the folder when she brought it in to Papanui station about 9.30am and didn't realise how much cash was there, about $1600.
Soon after a distressed woman rang to say she'd left a folder on her car roof and driven off without realising what she'd done. When she heard the money and all had been handed in she 'could not believe anyone was so honest'.
Sergeant Knowles says there are numerous items of value recovered and it is always nice to be able to return them to the rightful owner.
