Chaucer Road update and funeral set for Senior Constable Len Snee

1 min read

The Chaucer Road property at the centre of the Napier siege incident has been described as like a "stronghold" by the officer in charge of the investigations which are now underway.

Detective Superintendent Rod Drew said an initial examination of the house had been completed.

"The scene is large and complex. The house is like a stronghold, with a large number of military style weapons and ammunition"

Mr Drew said measures had now been put in place to protect the scene.

He expects to release more details on Monday morning.

Meanwhile arrangements for the funeral of Senior Constable Len Snee are being made.

A full Police funeral service will take place on Wednesday 13th May, 1.00pm at the Municipal Theatre in Napier. It will be followed by a private cremation.

Further details of the funeral will be made public as arrangements progress.

Napier Police do not expect to have any further information to release about the Chaucer Road incident until Monday morning.
