1 min read

Rotorua police are conducting an investigation into the inappropriate operation of a Westpac Bank business account in Rotorua where a sum of money has been withdrawn from the account.

Detective Senior Sergeant David Harvey says the investigation team was working with the Westpac Bank on the case.

"The individuals associated with this account are believed to have left New Zealand and Police were working through Interpol to locate those individuals."

"Westpac Bank has recovered some of the money which had been inappropriately withdrawn"

"At this time I am not prepared to disclose the amount of money involved, name the individuals or business involved, or discuss which country the individuals may be in right now."

Mr Harvey said the investigation was ongoing and Police were unable to add any more information at the moment.
