Masterton Police have released details of the victim of an assault which occurred in the town last Thursday 4 June.
He was a 25 year old local named Koria Steven Matiaha.
Police attended a Stuart Crescent address at about 5.30pm last Thursday following a report of fighting.
Mr Matiaha suffered head injuries and was airlifted to Wellington Hospital. He died on Sunday night, 7 June. A homicide enquiry has been launched.
Two Masterton women aged 20 and 21 years appeared in the Masterton District Court yesterday facing charges of assault. Both have been remanded in custody for two weeks.
Police are not seeking any persons or witnesses in relation.
