William Stewart faces further charges

William Stewart will appear in the Christchurch District Court today facing a total of 62 further charges.

He was initially detained on 27 May 2009 on a warrant to arrest for a breach of his Parole conditions issued on 3 October 2008.

Forty four of these charges relate to burglaries allegedly committed by STEWART in the Selwyn and Mid - South Canterbury area. During his time at large Police also allege he stole nine vehicles including one motor cycle. Eight of the vehicles were recovered.

Other charges relate to alleged driving offences, firearms and drug offences.

Total reparation amounts being sought by Police are still being compiled however it is estimated to be between $300k and $400k.
