Influenza situation at RNZPC improving

1 min read

No further cases of H1N1 virus have been identified at the RNZPC since Monday. Several recruits and staff who were identified as having had contact with the positive cases have been cleared and managers at the College are cautiously optimistic that those isolated with flu symptoms are recovering.

Approximately 40 recruits remain in isolation with the first tranche released this afternoon.

The College will return to business as usual next Monday with the arrival of over 100 senior Police staff for training courses and the planned graduation of Recruit Wing 257 on Thursday.

Superintendent Wilson says he is relieved things are slowly returning to normal but that the outbreak had reinforced the effectiveness of the College's response. He stressed that staff working at the College who have remained well throughout this period do not pose any health threat to their communities.
