Caught in court

1 min read

Hamilton Police didn't have far to go to arrest an armed robber wanted for the robbery of a City bank last week after a tip off led them to a man appearing in court this morning.

Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Greene of the Hamilton CIB said the information came from a member of the public who recognised the offender in a photo in a local paper and rang Police.

The photo related to the armed robbery of the Frankton Kiwibank on Commerce St last Wednesday.

"The 33-year-old Hamilton man was appearing in court this morning on unrelated charges when he was located by our staff.

"On being questioned he was subsequently charged with Aggravated Robbery and will appear in the Hamilton District Court this afternoon. We're very appreciative of the assistance we received from the public," said Mr Greene.
