Police are thanking the community for their keen reporting after a man was arrested allegedly breaking into a property in South Head this week.
Waitematā North Area Prevention Manager, Senior Sergeant Roger Small, says Police responded to reports of a unknown person at a residential address on South Head Road.
“Around 6pm on Tuesday evening, a neighbour sighted a male he didn’t recognise at one of the nearby houses.
“When he challenged the male, who told him he lived there, the informant called Police with his concerns.”
Upon arrival, the male was located and arrested without further incident.
The 28-year-old is due to appear in the Waitākere District Court on Tuesday 26 March.
Further enquiries have established the male was sighted acting suspiciously in nearby Helensville earlier in the day.
“We are aware of members of the community raising their concerns on community social media pages,” Senior Sergeant Small says.
“We would like to reassure you that Police have made an arrest in relation this matter.”
Police thank those who also contacted us directly.
“We continue to encourage anyone who sees something they are worried about or doesn’t look right to contact Police as soon as possible if it is happening now.
“Even if you feel like the information is insignificant, it doesn’t hurt to call us.
“Your report could be the key to Police holding someone to account for unlawful behaviour.”
