Arrest made in Bishopdale aggravated burglary

Christchurch Police have arrested a man in relation to an aggravated burglary in Raleigh Street, Bishopdale last night.

A 21-year old Christchurch man has been charged with aggravated burglary and will appear in the Christchurch District Court tomorrow. Additional charges are possible.

Detective Sergeant Hamish Wilson says the man was located in Spreydon this afternoon by a mobile patrol carrying out unrelated enquiries.

Enquiries are continuing to locate the other offenders, and the stolen property. A scene examination at the address has now been completed,

Up to three other offenders are being sought and all are described as Maori or Polynesian, in their 20s.

Detective Sergeant Wilson says investigators believe a knife was used by one of the offenders during the incident, but it has not yet been located.

"We are continuing to appeal for any reports of suspicious activity in the Bishopdale area around 9pm last night," he says.

"That includes any sightings of suspicious vehicles - of any description - seen in the vicinity of the incident."
