Invercargill Police are investigating an assault that occurred around the Dee Street and Esk Street intersection around 0200am this morning.
As a result of the incident a 40year old male is in Invercargill hospital and a male is being spoken with by Police.
Police are seeking assistance from any members of the public that may have witnessed the assault outside the Night & Day store around this time.
Anybody with information which may assist Invercargill Police are asked to call either the Invercargill Police direclty on 03 211 0400, the Southern District Command Centre on 03 471 5002 or alternatively they can pass information on anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
