Police investigating a home invasion in which a woman suffered life threatening injuries in early December are appealing to the public for help in identifying the two people pictured.
Shortly before midnight on Tuesday 2 December, a man broke into the victim's Karaka St flat. The woman heard a noise and came downstairs to find a man going through her possesion's. She bravely confronted him but the offender hit her in the head with a bottle. The offender then beat her around the head and face, leaving her unconscious for a lengthy period of time. The woman's injuries were initially life-threatening but she is now recovering.
The victim's credit card was among items that were stolen. Less than an hour later, the man and woman pictured arrived at the Z Service Station in Royal Oak. They were driving a stolen Isuzu Bighorn, which was later found abandoned in Otahuhu. The woman in these pictures then attempted to use the victim's stolen credit card.
Investigations into the attack have been ongoing and Police have been making a number of enquiries.
On December 23, Police publically issued the attached computer sketch of the offender. Whilst a number of calls were received from the public, unfortunately no firm leads were able to be made. The man pictured at the service station doesn't fit the description of the home-invasion offender (shown in computer sketch) and because of this Police aren't ruling out the possibility that more than one man was involved.
"Police would like to identify and speak to the man and the woman in order to advance the investigation" says Detective Senior Sergeant Andrew Fabish, Avondale CIB.
