Auckland Southern Motorway Crash

1 min read

Police are investigating a head on crash that occurred between two vehicles on the Southern Motorway at approximately 12:40am this morning.

The female driver of a gold Nissan entered on to the Southern Motorway heading south in a northbound lane.  She drove for 5 kilometres swerving past a number of vehicles before crashing into a northbound vehicle at East Tamaki.  It is believed that alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Both female drivers were the sole occupants of their vehicles and have suffered critical injuries.  They were taken by ambulance to Middlemore Hospital where they remain.

“We are hoping to speak with anyone who may have seen a gold Nissan heading towards the Mt Wellington Northbound off ramp at around 12:30am this morning” says Senior Constable Karl Bevin from the Waitemata Serious Crash Unit.  “This is a very disappointing start to the Queen’s Birthday long weekend”.

Anyone who believes they have information relating to the crash can call Waitemata Serious Crash Unit on 09 481 0773
