Police can now release the name of the young boy who died following a fall at a Gulf Harbour property on Wednesday.
He was Troy Spiers, aged 11, of Oamaru.
Troy's family have asked that they be allowed to grieve in private and ask that media do not attempt to contact them in any way. Media are asked to desist from visiting their home, phoning or writing as they do not wish to give any interviews now or in the coming months.
Troy's death will be referred to the Coroner.
Police would like to extend their condolences to Troy's family at this very difficult time.
