Canterbury Police arrest man in Spreydon without incident

Canterbury Police can confirm that a man has been arrested today as part of an ongoing investigation into an aggravated burglary on 15 February 2015  and reports of a firearm being discharged in Addington last night (16 February 2015).

Canterbury Police District Commander, Superintendent Gary Knowles, said “Canterbury Police AOS stopped the vehicle the man was in shortly after 3pm this afternoon in Selwyn Street (Christchurch).  The man was arrested without incident and we are not seeking anyone else in relation to either of these alleged incidents”

The 30 year old man will appear in Christchurch District Court tomorrow (18 February 2015) on charges of Aggravated Burglary, Kidnapping, Possession of Methamphetamine for supply and other charges relating to offending around Christchurch in the past two days.

“We would like to thank the public for their patience and for providing sightings of the man when he was in Barrington Mall and in other areas of the City” said Superintendent Knowles.

Police investigations are ongoing and anyone with information in relation to the 30 year old man’s offending is asked to contact Police by calling 03 363 7400 option 5.

No further comment will be made in relation to this incident.
