Central District Police are looking for Christopher Muir who is wanted to arrest.
The 35-year-old is believed to be hitch hiking from the Marton area, possibly heading to Wellington.
Police would like to warn people Muir is dangerous and should not be approached.
Last night Muir was involved in an incident in Marton where he reversed a stolen vehicle into a Police car before fleeing on foot.
The officer driving the Police car was treated for bruising and whiplash at Whanganui Hospital.
