Canterbury Police have arrested three men in their 20’s after members of the public recognised items of jewellery posted on the Canterbury Police and Bay of Plenty Police Facebook pages as having been stolen in a burglary in Rotorua.
Police have confirmed that a number of items of jewellery worth thousands of dollars were stolen from a residential property in Rotorua on 10 September.
A 23 year old Canadian resident and two Israeli residents aged 24 and 27 are due to appear in Christchurch District Court this morning (15 October 2015) each charged with one count of burglary.
Police investigations are continuing.
Detective Sergeant Don Fisher says it is very satisfying to be able to return these items to their rightful owner and shows what can be achieved when Police and the community work together.
Police are still looking to locate other items of jewellery believed to have been in the Christchurch area on 2 October 2015 which includes a gold Michael Hill charm bracelet.
